An ideal DLC needs a Definitive Purpose.
In order to bring one into fruition it needs to have a fluid technology system with the ability to update software in a fluid technological society. In addition, needs to be able to generate a market with shared interests and have the ability to attract and retain its members.
What can one do to make an existing DLC more attractive to and welcoming for students and teachers?
The ease of resource usage and dissemination will be a key factor in welcoming students and teachers.
The purpose of this Blog is to elicit & engage in thought provoking ideas about standards and issues in education, the classroom and in parenting ...I do a weekly online radio show, CLASSROOM DNA w/ Phyllis Austin, which address national educational issues affecting you & your child locally...Household DNA represents all the actions in a household, which sanction the behavior of a child. DIGITAL LEARNING COMMUNITIES
I joined EdWEB (http://www.edweb.net/) because of its mission to support Collaboration in Education (http://home.edweb.net/about-edweb/).
I also joined MIT Open Course ware for learning and skill acquisition and development.
There is no need to reinvent the wheel. I can use my created time more effectively for solving problems and resolving issues.
The mission and purpose statement was the key in making a DLC impressive and noticeable.
The purpose and target groups are very important in deciding to join a DLC.
To make joining a DLC easier, be honest in your purpose and transparent in your actions.

COLLECTING REPUTABLE DIGITAL RESOURCES
1) The three most important web tools are the search tool, video
and interactive tool, and lastly, networking tool.
The search tools allow a student to enter the format he would
like to receive information in especially based on hardward/software
capabilities, learning styles and interests.
For example: one may need a pdf
file or interactive resource as oppose
to video because the system has low mbps.
Networking such as Edmodo and other chat rooms allow the student to connect with teachers and others for help especially when the teacher is offline.
Networking such as Edmodo and other chat rooms allow the student to connect with teachers and others for help especially when the teacher is offline.
2) There are five basic steps
to authenticating / vetting information:
Authority and accuracy It is important to find out the author's identityand
his or her qualifications or expertise in order to determine the credibility
and reliability of the information.
Purpose
and content
Some
sites provide links to information (e.g., About
Our Organization or a Vision Statement) detailing the purpose in
creating the Web site. The purpose of other sites might not be obvious at
first. Take the time to thoroughly explore a Web site to determine if the
information is mostly subjective (biased or opinionated),objective (factual), or mixed.
Currency
The
currency or regularity of updating information is vital for some types
information and less so for others. For example, Web sites that provide
historical information, such as the presidential papers of George Washington, do not have to
be updated as often as sites that provide news
stories or stock market information.
3) The biggest policy and procedure to ensure authenticity of collected information is cross-referencing information.
THE BEST WAY TO PREDICT THE FUTURE IS TO CREATE IT

GREATNESS: A Matter of Respect
Discussion:
1) the ability to increase our greatness by understanding the importance of respect...
2) The Stockdale Paradox:
You must retain faith that you will prevail in the end, regardless of the difficulties.
AND at the same time…
You must confront the most brutal facts of your current reality, whatever they might be.
Another amazing topic.
Invite young people to listen...

EXPANDING THE EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENT: Virtual learning - 10 million by 2014
Virtual learning is truly a vehicle that can propel a student's learning to new heights and a world of learning that cannot be cultivated in the classroom.
Parents and colleagues, I am expanding my knowledge and commitment in the virtual learning community. Although virtual learning has been around for awhile, it is gaining expansion as technology facilitate meeting the Educational needs of our diverse student population.
Virtual learning serves to meet the needs of students in a variety of conditions, from the high academics of rural communities to the homeschoolers to students who may not physically be able to attend a school.
Therefore parents, the blogging community is very important in developing the needs and understanding of the online student and virtual learning communities. These tools in the digital learning world is open to discussion.
So I ask:
- Parents, how can we help you meet your child's needs through virtual learning?
-Colleagues, what knowledge can you give to the student and parent community to understand the value of virtual learning to meet the educational needs of a diverse world?
- How do we use blogging and other media vehicles to facilitate virtual learning?
